Let em eat cake...or something like that

My 8 year old DD wants to blog. Part of me thinks..."ooo, how cool would that be for her to start now and have it to look back on later" and another part says "hello, she's only 8". It would be something we would do together and she's pretty creative as far as the writing thing goes. She's very technologically minded and it might help her grow as a writer. Any thoughts out there in the blog-O-sphere? Should I let her "eat cake"?

Hm. Well, I'm 15 and i have one. but she is 8. if you carefully monitor her blog and watch what information she gives out it might be okay. as long as your helping her. as you said it would be a good thing for ya'll to do. :)

My two cents worth. I would get her a composition notebook and some stickers and markers and let her start her own journal. Let her keep a daily log of what she does each day and see how she likes it.

Eight is (my opinion) is a bit young for being online, or you create a second blog under your blog and just limit it to you and her as authors and keep it private.

Third option is to let her keep her journal in a word document. She could pull in clip art or pictures and just do her daily journaling in a document, this would also give her some experience working with a keyboard.

My DD is thirteen and so far she only does webkinz, and a few other Disney site as well. She does not even have a facebook page yet.

I am putting that one off as long as possible. She hasn't asked if she can have one and I haven’t offered to show her how. Why open the door until it is necessary.

Ya know, after I posted - I had second thoughts about it. She does webkinz, Disney games and funkeys. My second thought is...there's plenty of time for blogging and she keeps a little journal now...we'll just stick with that. I had a momentary loss of brain function. I do wanna keep em "little" as long as possible. Thanks for the confirmation.
